What is Science of Mind?

The Science of Mind is an outgrowth of the spiritual faith which people have had throughout the ages. Before science was conceived, the Presence of God was felt. Before mental actions or reactions were analyzed history was filled with instances of men and women who had experienced God.

The Science of Mind is comparatively new, but the mental experience of the invisible universe is as old as the history of humanity. It is new in that for the first time in history we have put together all findings which contribute to the establishment of our relationship with the universe, to the end that we may be able to apply our spiritual understanding to the everyday problems of human life.

This science necessarily starts with the proposition that we are living in a spiritual universe whose sole government is one of harmony, and that the use of right ideas is the enforcement of its law. The Science of Mind is built on the theory that there is One Infinite Mind which of necessity includes all that is, whether it be the intelligence in man, the life in the animal, or the invisible Presence which is God. In it we learn to have a spiritual sense of things. The spiritual sense of things is what is meant by the Consciousness of Christ. To be able to discern the spiritual idea behind its physical symbol is to use the mind that Jesus used.

The Science of Mind is intensely practical because it teaches us how the Mind Principle for definite purposes, such as helping those who are sick, impoverished, or unhappy. The Science of Mind reveals that every person is a potential Christ. Every person has inherent God-power within him/her.

Religious Science and the Science of Mind

The purpose of the United Centers for Spiritual Living is to foster the teaching and practice of the Science of Mind. The Houston Center for Spiritual Living is a member center of the United Centers for Spiritual Living, which is a global spiritual community, composed of people pervasively caring for and about each other and the entire human family. Centers for Spiritual Living and communities are points of inspiration which bring the gift of compassion to the world.

Founder Ernest Holmes developed the Science of Mind as a spiritual teaching for the modern world. He defined it as “a correlation of the laws of science, the opinions of philosophy, and the revelations of religion as applied to the needs and aspirations of human kind.” The Science of Mind is not a personal revelation, but rather a uniting of the basic spiritual concepts which have been presented by the great spiritual teachers of all ages in a manner which is clear, concise and practical. There is a basic Truth that underlies all spiritual traditions. The Science of Mind removes all dogma and superstition so that the essential Truth of all religions may be revealed.

We are a faith, a philosophy and a way of life for the modern thinking spiritual seeker. We teach what the mystics and saints of all spiritual traditions have always taught:

There is a power for good in the universe, greater than you are which you can use.

You create your life through the power of your thought, or as Jesus said.

“It is done unto you as you believe.”

I SEE NO EVIL

I see no evil for I behold only what is good in all.
I have seen the drunk lying in the gutter.
I have seen the saint kneeling in ecstasy before the high altar of faith.
I have found no difference.
Each is seeking to express the One Life in their own way.
I cannot separate and divide them.
I cannot condemn or praise anyone for I know that there is just One in all.
I know that all come from the same One and all return to the same One.
I know that all are now in that One.
I know that all seek to express the One.

I know and love all.
